How to transfer Vehicle ownership in Kenya

The whole vehicle ownership transfer process is pegged on the logbook details and most frequently occurs during the car buying process.

A Logbook is an important document that contains details about the car (color, axles, cc, seats) and the owner of the car.

Get your NTSA / KRA motor vehicle transfer processed together with the Logbook Transfer Form C from the previous owner and have your new Logbook with your details within 5 Working Days.  The application will be processed through NTSA / KRA on your behalf and deliver the necessary documents to you efficiently.

The following are important steps to follow during the transfer:-

  1. Conduct an Online NTSA Car Search to ensure the current logbook details are correct – Proof of ownership
  2. Fill in the Application form below
  3. Confirm you have all the necessary documents
  4. Original Logbook
      • Duly filled KRA Transfer Form C by both the car seller and buyer
      • Copies of ID for both seller and buyer
      • Copies of PIN for both seller and buyer
      • If buying from an organization, Copies of both Certificate of Registration and PIN for both organization (seller) and buyer.
      • If the owner is deceased – letters of Administration to be attached
      • In case of written off vehicle inspection Report to be attached
      • Incase of Parastatal, EX GKs and Local Authorities, letter signed personally by respective permanent Secretaries
  5. Sale Agreement – indicating full vehicle particulars i.e Make, Chassis No. Engine No

The NTSA / KRA motor vehicle transfer process will take 5 working days max.
